IN AN effort to augment its already pervasive range of service channels, Sun Cellular has opened a prepaid reloading service through Security Bank Online.

“We tap on the sophistication of online banking to create a convenient and reliable channel for our customers to reload their sun prepaid accounts anytime. Now, Security Bank Online clients can get 24/7 access to Sun load using just their gadgets and an internet connection,” said Michele Curran, vice president for marketing of Sun Business, Sun Cellular’s corporate solutions unit.

This new service channel accommodates reloading transactions for Sun prepaid, fixed load and easy line accounts. Subscribers can log on to their Security Bank Online account and choose the option for prepaid reloading. This will let them transfer credits from their account to their mobile number in the form of prepaid load.

Recently, Sun Cellular has also partnered with Banco de Oro Unibank to incorporate Sun Cellular prepaid reloading service into the existing point of sales of their different branches. This gives Sun subscribers an alternative means for reloading besides going to their neighborhood retailers and sari-sari stores.

Curran also said further to partnerships with banks and financial institutions for postpaid bills payment, Sun Cellular has also embarked on using these systems to better serve prepaid service patrons. Sun has then opened prepaid reloading via outlets of 7-Eleven, Cebuana Lhuillier, Netopia, Global Pinoy Remittance & Services and LoadCentral.

“Through synergies and partnerships like this, we cap off the customer experience by giving them a stronger network support and a far-reaching array of service channels. Beyond 24/7 communications, Sun Cellular is set to stand for convenience and reliability of service, as well,” Curran adds.

Sun Cellular is a member of the Philippine Long Distance Co. Group.

Xpress Money opens first OFW Center in PH

Xpress Money on Friday unveiled its first OFW (overseas Filipino workers) Center in the country, bringing migrant workers closer to their home.

Xpress Money-Business Development for Asia Pacific chief, Joel Candy, reiterated the company’s commitment to the Philippines by developing an OFW Center to support the initiatives taken by the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).

Spread across the country, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art training technology and systems meant to accommodate around 50 OFWs at a time.

“Xpress Money recognizes Philippines as an important market, being the fourth largest remittance receiving country in the world. We have been very closely engaged with the Filipino community over the last few years, and opening of the said OFW center is another way giving back to the community,” Candy said.

The OFW center caters especially to first-time OFWs preparing to leave the Philippines for work opportunities abroad. The center was also built as a response to the government’s mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar for Filipinos who have obtained a valid working visa in a foreign country and have been officially registered with the POEA.

PDOS arms OFWs with helpful information related to decorum and religious policies of specific countries, and with the do’s and don’t’s of the host country.

Xpress Money is a global money transfer brand with a thriving presence in more than 125 countries, with 135,000 agent locations across the world.

OFWs may remit their hard earned money thru Xpress Money’s agent partners MLhuiller, Cebuana Lhuillier, Banco de Oro, Metrobank, Kwarta Gram, China Bank, I-Remit, Allied Bank and Cash Remit.

Are you the Happiest Pinoy?

Remaining resilient and positive in trying times differentiates Pinoys from the rest of the world. Our ability to smile despite the price increase in commodities, tuition fees, and the “extra challenge” to save always see us through. But what does happiness really mean for the everyday Pinoy? A happiness campaign from Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions reveal it’s the following:

What does happiness mean to you?

1. Health

2. Financial security

3. Work

These are among many others but many will agree with number 2. For sometime, talking about money and happiness in the same light are taboo. There’s a saying “money can’t buy happiness” but I disagree. Financial security gives us a good night sleep, making our mornings and disposition happy. When you worry about money, how can you be happy?

Money is not the root of all evil, lack of money is!

In fact, I believe that “lack of money is the root of all evil” and not money in general. Now that we’ve reached the second half of the year, many of us are subconsciously evaluating our financial development. We’re looking backward to see how many steps we’ve taken to reach our financial goals for 2012 – and look forward to how many steps away we are.

This is a good time to remember the parable of the poor little rich man. He accumulated wheat all his life and for himself alone. He was so frugal even with himself, nor does he share his blessings to his servants. When he reached his goals, accumulating wheat enough to feed thousands, he went to rest and sleep – and never woke up again.

During the happiness bootcamp I attended, Jonathan Batangan (General Manager of CLIS) told us how selflessness is a characteristic of the happiest people in the world. In our journey to happiness, it is counterproductive to think of ourselves alone. Imagine how you can have a positive impact in the lives of others.

It’s no surprise how the happiest and richest people in our midst are those who know how to share their wealth, “for it is in giving that we are able to receive”. Money lets us practice generosity to help our family, friends, and most especially – people who we don’t even know.

In their happiness campaign, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions wishes to promote not just being resilient and choosing to be positive but also to promote awareness on the plight of our indigenous Aeta brothers & sisters.

Today can make you rich

Here’s a secret to getting happy and rich- focus on the now, use your “present” because it’s a gift you can use to build your future. Choose to be productive now, don’t look back at the past or be discouraged by an uncertain future. That’s just you procrastinating. Choose to be a happy money maker no matter how hard it is to save today. Believe you can achieve your financial goals and eliminate your worries so you can focus on today.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dnfnd2XAEIs/T8gviLrx92I/AAAAAAAAJnI/8JTsIC527c0/s1600/P5291722.JPG

During the conference, Jonathan explained how powerful our thoughts are and how they DO determine our future. Borrowing the words of buddha “the mind is everything, what you think, you become”. Many of us know this but most of the time, we choose to criticize, complain, and magnify our aches & pains rather than our blessings. Truly, being positive is a hard task when our minds are programmed to tune into the harsh realities of life.

Let me take this opportunity to introduce God into your life, whose goal is to make us happy. In fact he said, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you”. You guessed it, it’s my favorite verse and the promise I keep close to my heart when my bank account balance is simply depressing.

Let’s celebrate happiness!

OFWs need financial literacy, says remittance firm

MANILA, Philippines—UK-based remittance company Xpress Money has stressed the need for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be educated on investing their savings.

“We find a strong responsibility to equip our future OFWs with everything they need to sustain themselves and lead a secure life away from home,” Joel Candy, Xpress Money regional vice president, said in an interview.

At the inauguration of its first OFW Center in Manila on Friday, Candy also stressed the company’s initiative as a way of giving back to the Filipino community, saying it is the “logical step ahead” to boost our level of communication and engagement with our outbound workers.

He said the OFW Center, targeted specifically for first-time overseas workers, was expected to become a training and educational hub, as well as a center for seminars and workshops.

Candy also noted the role of the center as a “built response” to the government’s Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS), a requirement by the government for all Filipinos who have already obtained a valid work visa in a foreign country.

“At the centers, we are not just looking at the PIDOS activity but also creating modules on financial literacy, modules on key do’s and don’ts in visiting other countries, and providing venues for supporting meetings conducted by partner agencies,” Candy said.

For his part, Xpress Money vice president for global marketing and communications Vinesh Venugopal Nair said there is also a need for them to enhance the “social character” of their brand through corporate social responsibility (CRS) initiatives, and for their company to live up to their “bringing home closer” brand name.

“We realize that our commitment to the country requires us to boost our CSR initiatives because they give us an idea of what the people need,” Nair said. “When we talk about bringing home closer, we can’t do that sitting million miles away from them.”

Nair said members of his company have conducted relief operations and road trips to rural parts of the Philippines, giving away school materials through the help of partner organizations. He said part of the company’s commitment was being familiar with the challenges that the rural populace face.

Xpress Money has been doing business in the country for more than a decade, providing various services such as cash to cash, cash to bank, and online money transfers. It has tie ups with various banks and corporations like Banco De Oro, Allied Bank, and Metrobank, as well as Cebuana Lhuillier and I-remit. It has also expressed interest in expanding through tie-ups with rural banks nationwide.

Candy expressed high hopes for the remittance industry in the country, saying that the Philippines has proven time and again its capability in withstanding economic downfalls. He cited an example in years 2008-2009, when he said the country was expected to gain negative remittances but it proved them wrong.

He said the country was expected to have key gains in remittances, saying his company expected market share to grow from 3-3.2 percent to 3 to 5 percent in the next two years.

“Average inbound remittances from this country remained in the ranges of 4 – 5%, healthy looking compared to other countries and how they fared in the global unwind,” Candy said.

Amado Tetangco, Manila assistant city administrator and Estrella Mae Anoñuevo, Atikha Overseas Workers and Communities Initiatives executive director, also attended the event.
