CEBUANA LHUILLIER INSURANCE SOLUTIONS AWARDS CHECK TO TYPHOON ONDOY VICTIM

October 14, 2009 - Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions (CLIS), the insurance arm of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, headed by its General Manager Mr. Jonathan Batangan, awarded a Php 20,000 check to Mr. Jeffery B. Parchamento, son of typhoon Ondoy victim.

Mrs. Glorino Chico availed one certificate of Alagang Cebuana Plus for Php 25.00 when she pawned her wedding ring at Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop to financially help a friend. When typhoon Ondoy struck the country on September 26, Mrs. Chico was in her house in Makati with her boarders. When the water reached her house, she secured her boarders and their valuables on the second floor. After ensuring that everyone was safe, Mrs. Chico went down to to the ground floor get canned goods for them to eat. But due to fatigue and old age, Mrs. Chico drowned in the flood. The family of the victim rushed her to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival..

After Mrs. Chico was laid to rest, Mr. Parchamento learned that his mother is insured with Alagang Cebuana Plus. Mr. Parchamento immediately coordinated with CLIS and provided all the necessary documents to process the claim. CLIS, in partnership with Malayan Insurance, was able to process the claim within 24 hours.
